My Story

Hi, there!I'm John Tobison.I own Nordic Light Gallery and I am the principal photographer. I have a passion for photography that evokes emotions and memories through beautiful fine art images of the natural world. While I shoot many subjects, like martial arts, astrophotography, special events, and portraits, my first love is nature and landscapes. I love spending time in the wilderness and on the water and I marvel at the natural beauty all around us. I particularly enjoy the Adirondack Park in New York near my home and the dramatically beautiful landscapes all throughout the Northeast.

From Tech to Art

I haven’t always been an artist and I like to think about my career in three acts, like a theatre production.

Act I was a decade and a half as a software engineer and management consultant, traveling to clients all over the world.

Act II was three decades as a technology executive and Chief Information Officer (CIO), helping to grow several successful public and private software companies.

Now, as what I consider my reward, I finally get to concentrate on my Act III - this time in the arts.
